An Open Letter To Players From NJTFC President Alex Geraldino
Due to the recent murder of an African American by police brutality, NJ Teamsters FC's President and General Manager Alex Geraldino wrote an open letter to NJTFC players. Our organization would be remiss to remain silent. We believe in racial inclusion, racial harmony, equality and social justice for all Americans, especially people of color who have been marginalized and discriminated against in the United States of America for hundreds of years.
We want justice for George Floyd and must never forget this moment in our history. There is only one race, and that's the human race!
Good Day All,
I hope everyone here (players/staff's private group chat) are doing well and safe. I woke up this morning and felt compelled to share my thoughts. In light of the turmoil that this country is facing, COVID and now with the recent uprising, I believe that this warrants a discussion.
As an organization, we cannot turn a blind eye to this situation and assume that we all know how this situation came about. For the record, this is not a black and white issue. It's a right versus. wrong, good versus evil issue. The video capturing the final moments of Mr. George Floyd's life offer the latest horrific evidence of injustice that is all too prevalent in the United States. No family in this country should go to bed at night, worrying about if their children will encounter the "wrong" police officer, at the wrong moment. No family should have to worry about their child losing their life just because of the color of their skin. Yet, they do. Think about it!
If you guys wish to have an open and candid discussion to better understand, talk about a solution or just to talk, we are open to it. If you would like a private discussion, you can contact me privately.
